Power Words & Phrases for the Year
Your Power Word for 2022 with Dana (woman with crossed arms)

Powerfully declare what your year will be in a word or phrase.

Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful celebration reflecting on 2021! Do you feel ready to “TURN ON” your most impactful year yet in your business?

My power word for 2022 is “MASTERY”
I know this past year tested me in so many ways and although my profitability and performance weren’t anything to put on the shelf, I’m beyond grateful for the lessons that helped shape a new direction for me to focus on in 2022.

I want to fulfill all of the things I’ve started with an approach to master the skills, the intentions, and the systems that I had initiated over the last 2 years and make more prideful & profitable results from my efforts.

How about you?

If you are someone who just can’t get with the idea of mapping out a giant complicated, multi-layered plan for your marketing or your business, you may want to take a small, very small, effort to set a powerful direction for yourself.

Words are powerfully linked to our subconscious and conscious mind

If your brain hears a certain word, you assign meaning. You recall experiences. And you feel what that word means emotionally and physically in your body.

What if each day you can wake up and make a small statement or phrase around ONE word that you wish to assign to 2022?

How can that one word said every day give you a nudge in the direction you desire to think/feel/ act on?

Select ONE word and make a commitment to using it regularly

To start a brand new year, I want to give you one challenge- pick a single word to name 2022.

Next, each morning, each start of the week, or at the beginning of each month, create a phrase that assigns meaning around that word. Make those your written verbal, and visual pledges to yourself that you can use to stay in alignment with what you desire the year to be.

Use these words + phrases in your marketing

Have you heard of the Law of Attraction? It’s about pulling inward what you desire, who you desire, and manifesting outcomes that help make anything possible!

What you are putting out there is what you are going to receive back. Using the MKTG Dashboard Process, a MKTG Brand Strategic tool, you can plug your words and phrases as themes and sub-themes into your marketing plan, making your intentions front and center of everything you are talking about.

The best part about being consistent being clear, and being communicative about the things and words you are sharing is that people will receive this, understand this about you, and start to associate that powerful word or phrase with your branding. It’s such a beautiful thing!

Being Intentional

Keeping your intentions small and bite-sized, like using just one word at a time, is what I hope to encourage empowerment and confidence in you so that you can be all that you need to be in order to live out your business + life’s mission this year.

CONTENT IDEAS

for leaders of movements, businesses, or tribes

Posting everyday? Not seeing enough WOW in your marketing?

Trying new things to excite, educate, and empower your audience in fresh ways can really uplift things for you?

If you’ve been only on video- try adding some more visuals or words to your postings!
If you’ve been only writing words- try exploring videos!
If you’ve been only posting quotes - try using more infographics, storytelling, or photos of you!

Either way, if something isn’t working- we have to adapt!

The very best way to know what to do efficiently is just ask your audience- take polls, surveys, or get on a 1 on 1 chat for 15 minutes with a few of your top followers and ask them what they’d like to hear more about from you!

Here are some ideas:

CONTENT IDEAS

❏ Gather your top 10 favorite quotes, write them down and include two big ideas from them. Share that quote every 6 months with a different reflection/ graphic on it.

❏ Who have you lifted up recently? Even if you want to create a “shout out” to someone in your immediate or local community, spend a post featuring people who you think live out your brand mission!

❏ Are there any direct competitors you have? Spend a few posts being the “different brand” by sharing their specific expertise, and then outlining yours in a much more powerful, yet encouraging way. We demonstrate collaboration, not scarcity mindset

❏ Do you own a favorite clothing item or accessory that shows off your brand colors? How about a piece of furniture or a song that just reminds you of your brand? Sprinkle those in a few times per week to change up the biz talk and bring your brand into a real-life scenario. Afterall, if your brand is cool and calming, maybe every time someone sees ice cream, they think of YOU!

❏ The “3 times a charm” method. If you are trying to announce something (anything) in your social media journey, give the anticipation post, the “in the moment” post, and then the reflection post. That way, if people missed you the first time, they can really tune in and not miss any updates from you

❏ Reintroduce yourself, your story, and your mission as many times as possible over the six months. If you can think of splitting your story up in 4 different parts, you can elaborate on that one part each quarter. What about how you named your products? How you chose your brand’s look and feel, or even what came out of your big launch in your business? Sharing what you may be obvious, could be a breath of fresh air for people who are either just tuning in, or others who have been following you that still are unclear about what exactly you do what you do.

❏ Testimonials - split them up into 3 or 4 different key statements and weave them into your post captions or create new posts for them.

❏ “What if”scenarios. Paint the scene of what the world would be like if your business did not exist or if it existed as a household name. Circle back with encouragement and solutions to keep telling the story about your brand and your mission.

Have you heard of 'Disappearing December'?

Gary Vaynerchuck accidently coined the term on a podcast he was speaking on and it stuck ever since with me.

Although I didn’t intent for it exactly, I really fell into this lull of social media + marketing + always being in the spotlight of growing my business. This experiment actually is quite interesting-

As part of my MKTG Tribe Program, I encourage business owners who manage their own marketing efforts on social media to proactively post their content and bulk-write in order to always be present and showing up “on-brand,” but this pause in posts was completely intentional.

I wanted to challenge the status quo against my own teaching to see how things would feel for me if I separated myself from everything for a moment. To see who missed me, who reached out, who sent an email of concern, or who was just completely okay with me being gone.

I find no reason to apologize, to explain any further than this, or to make an excuse of why I dramatically cut my posts away from my business than just to make marketing yet another layer of human- sometimes we just need to go away for a bit.

The old saying, “If you love something, let it go. If it comes back, it was meant to be!” was all the feels during Disappearing December.

Overcoming Anxiety from Writing marketing Content

Ya'll hate writing?

If someone on your team is a content writer for your brand but can't seem to get moving, I gotchu! ⠀

I mean, I used to freak out about writing SO bad that I'd spend more time coping my stress than letting the words flow.

It just takes a lot of time, patience, energy, & a system to point you in the right direction.

I’m going to share with you my system, but first, this is real-talk Writing Anxiety:

50 percent of doctoral students in the U.S. and Canada drop out during the research proposal or dissertation-writing phases of their degrees before finishing their programs.

There are 4 things I live by daily when dealing with writer's block:

  • "Oh shucks, I forgot why I am doing this"

Sometimes just write down what your objective is when trying to create content or build your message. When writing the objective of a marketing piece is right in front of you, it will significantly get you moving on your words.

  • Take a second away from the screen and come back to it.

You will soon start replacing the objective statement (in the tip above) with more fun, subjective writing and let your pen or keyboard soar with creativity- Often times for me, being simple FIRST solves half the battle.

  • {What do they need the} mindset
Get to the point with what your target peeps need to hear from you. Who are they, what are their pain points, what is the most important, juicy elements? Don't skip this part- it's also very important so you don't miss anything crucial and always being relevant with who you are intending to read this.

  • ALWAYS proofread!

I used to submit writing as soon as I finished it and never took a second glance. Later in my career as a Public Relations Director, I improved my writing significantly with the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th pass through. The edits and revisions are where all the GREAT stuff comes from! ⠀⠀What are you working on this week that involves writing?
