Social impact Statistics to Prove Doing Good In Business Is Great for Your Brand

I suppose I don’t talk often enough about the fact that businesses that prioritize ethics, humanity, the environment, and simply doing more good than harm to our planet by existing is working - working well!

You see, when we think about the way the world of business works, yes it is true that corporations & big powerful entities drive decisions and make the impact on global levels to either help or destroy our planet and the people inside of it. But who gives these entities the power?

Consumer trends, motivations, and values is among the first few steps to really understand when creating any marketing plan. Without knowing what society looks like and how it fits into the world of business, you will have a very hard time speaking to, engaging with, and being relevant to people who will be part of your business community as consumers, referrers, or just advocates of your movement.

Each Wednesday, I encourage us all to participate in #WorldViewWednesday to continue to expand our viewpoint around society. Have challenging arguments to really listen to the other side. Read books & do some research on projects or topic areas you find most interesting to dive into. Learn something new! Get out of your own way, and break some old habits of a belief system that limits your own perspective.

I like to think - there are nearly 8 billion people on the planet- we truly know NOTHING!

Furthermore, if you are looking at the way consumers are behaving and what they truly value, I believe it is social issues. Especially if you are marketing to the highly influential groups such as Gen Z and Millenials- they absolutely LOVE businesses with a great triple bottom line, or B Corporation certified businesses.

I found this lovely resource to give you some sharable, or tweetable, quotes to dive further into the mindset and values of these groups and how doing good in your business is actually the way to go.

As your mission-driven marketing planner, I encourage you to start reflecting on some of these statics and facts and ask yourself, “what is the opportunity for me?”

We want to always be innovating and looking ahead. I invite you to do so with a conversation with me- let’s chat about what is possible for your brand and how you can bring more good into the world!

RESOURCE: Marketing Your Business During a Heated Social Media LanDscape

I have learned that to be a movement-maker, a world-changer, and a leader of my mission, one of the biggest elements to have as a human being is to eliminate the fear of not being liked & agreed with by all, but putting ourselves in the center of the most ugliest places of society. This is how change is made.

I’m trying my best to be open to all perspectives & conversation starters, so bear with me. I believe this is how we progress collectively together as a functioning society to treat human beings with so much more dignity & respect.

Maybe we are saying the same thing with different words attached that make us feel we are in disagreement?

Coming up on 6 hours of journaling and expressing how I feel, I really am not yet ready to put together a formulated, eloquent wording with regards to conversations around racism. I am trying to do so much better.

HOWEVER, I do want to acknowledge the ongoing

  • exhausting injustice of the mistreatment in law enforcement upon the Black Community

  • the inexcusable negative outcomes of sick or lethal cases in these communities during COVID-19 pandemic

  • defeating decades of history upon the people of color that have been brutally mistreated & hold us where we are today.

#BlackLivesMatter

I’ve created this resource after a weekend of intense social media uproar and many people left in fear of how to move forward with their businesses who heavily rely on social media to keep showing up in service.

Please feel free to comment if this resource was helpful and share with anyone who would find it valuable. Thank you so much for leading with your mission & movement!

Is it your intention to be LIKED or to be TRUE to yourself.

Intention to be liked or to be true to yourself.

Do you have to choose or can you have both?

I pre-write some of these prompts when I’m planning out my content- but when I came across today’s Sunday Intention from a few weeks ago- I nearly cried.

Well, last night- I did cry. A lot because well, my friend, we are human beings.

This week, it seemed like being a business owner vocally sharing who I am, what I do, and inviting people to work with me puts me in a difficult place feeling not-so liked from past personal relationships, but feel highly “liked” on social media as a business owner from other entrepreneurs.

My mission is to make the world a better place by stepping into leadership of our own movement & to empower people to be more than they were yesterday and appreciate every step of the journey they are on!

The best part about this intention is that I realize that my mission can sometimes be SO large, so heavy, and so grandiose for the everyday person to be able to come along with.

A weird feeling of "loss" temporarily followed by feeling rather good that I'm being more intentional about who I am.

When you begin marketing your business, you can go into hiding afraid to cross your personal + business contacts - so you take a break. But you do know that taking no action costs you. Sometimes, it's worth it- other times, you can ask yourself, “what is the point of this?!” How can you move forward with this?

Here's what I do know for sure
Mission-driven marketing & leading with your beliefs is not going to gain you extreme popularity, but tons of respect from the people who value your genuine self. Also, mission-driven marketers being responsible for taking priority to care for not only yourself but for everything around you- it's pretty cool.

Have you noticed so many people sharing incredible amounts of content on social media lately that have put them on “sides” and further separating our society to “us” & “them” collectivity?

In today’s world, telling it “like it is” has probably gotten you some heat. Speaking from the heart could have even severed relationships for you. We have seen this day in & day out during this pandemic: who spoke passionately about what they think they believed was the "right" thing to do and who was so "wrong".

Stay true to yourself, please.
This is all entirely expected because people either like us, or they don’t. They either respect us, or they don’t. And they either agree with us, or they don’t.

It’s not our responsibility to change others. Just show up as yourself.

The truth is, it’s not just you- it’s this very sensitive landscape of rightfully so, terrifying circumstances of mistrust & uncertainty. That's okay- but keep on your path, my friend!

Hopeful in saying this, there will be a lot of people who can respect you for being yourself with the world view you are limited to, but don’t necessarily side with you on it- a depiction of my ideal world right here.

Working to expand our world-view daily and accept people for where they are on their journey is pretty productive & can be your intention this week. This can help us all so we can make this world a much more collective place to live.
